Morris "Sandy" Lee Johnson, beloved husband of Bettie Lee Johnson a caring father. Morris was born to the late Morris Mc Duffie Johnson on September 12, 1936 in Bishopville, SC.
Morris attended the Lee County Public Schools in Bishopville, SC. In 1956 Morris married Bettie Lee and to this union three children were born; Lavern, Wanda and Tyrone.
Seeking a better life for his family Morris decided to move to New Jersey in 1957 to attain employment. Morris was employed with Washington Equipment of Paterson, NJ for 22 years and later retired from Marlow Steel Equipment of Hawthorne, NJ after 14 years.
Morris accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age and joined St. Mark Baptist Church in Bishopville, SC; where he served faithfully until moving to Paterson, NJ. Soon after Morris became dedicated and hardworking member of Grace Chapel Baptist Church of Paterson. During his years at Grace Chapel Baptist Church, he was member of the Male Chorus and Trustee Board, serving under the leadership of Rev. Weldon Mc Williams, Sr.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Bertha Duffie Johnson; two sisters, Curlee Johnson and Magie Mahoney; two brothers, George Johnson and Willie Rob Johnson and one granddaughter, Meka.
Morris departed this life Saturday, July 24, 2010, at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, NJ.
Morris leaves behind to cherish fond memories: his adoring and devoted wife, Mrs. Bettie Lee Johnson; three children, Lavern Johnson of Bishopville, SC, Wanda Johnson of Bishopville, SC and Tyrone Johnson (Laketa) of Clifton, NJ; two brothers, Jake (Joanne) Johnson and Sammie Lee (Annie Lee) Johnson of Paterson, NJ; three sisters, Ozalee Pearson of Paterson, NJ, Marie Barr and Jessie Mae Davis of Bishopville, SC; eleven grandchildren, Tychonn, Dachonn, Ty Yanna, Shawanna, Shante, Brandon, Jakeima, Lauren, Little Morris and Keith; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
