Bennie was a longtime member of the Solid Rock B.C. of Paterson, NJ, where he served faithfully on the Board of Trustees, the Senior Choir, the Busy Bees Club, the Usher Board and the Men's Choir. He also served as a Youth advisor and assistant coach for the basketball team. He was faithful in all capacities that he served on until his health claimed his independence.

Bennie was preceded in death by a loving and devoted wife, Marie Rogers, his parents, Starling and Arfannie Rogers, one daughter, Veronica Rogers Williams, one great-grandson, Michell L. Hightower, two brothers, Willie James and Dave Rogers.
